It featured a female firefighter thanking her mother for choosing life, a choice that has now enabled her to save lives.

In November an anonymous complainant to ASC alleged the ad violated the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. It was argued that the ad “discriminates against women by indirectly shaming women who choose abortion.” NB Right to Life was forced to respond, or risk a ruling that could have prevented the ad from airing in the future.
...
The Right to Life group denied the charge of discrimination, pointing out that while the ad praises one woman’s choice to continue her pregnancy, “it implies no condemnation of women who have made other choices.”

40 Days for Life Closing Rally

A special cake to thank all the volunteers who took part in the 40 Day vigil for Life. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TM4kfMY45QI/AAAAAAAAA5Y/ebozi8hbSqA/s400/IMGP0494s.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534401110405080322" />
The wall of fame - those are just some of the ~250 volunteers from all across New Brunswick who came to pray at the vigil site. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TM4h74V7nuI/AAAAAAAAA5I/Qf0m8AuZI7c/s400/IMGP0496s.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534398304705289954" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 105px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TM4h7rCZ0PI/AAAAAAAAA5A/XFQWSXzjAME/s400/IMGP0498.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534398301133721842" />
The pro-aborts tried to counter our vigil several times; they were able to gather about a dozen of people on one or two occasions, but they couldn't match our vigil. Day 14
Many believers at all times today, praying alone or in groups. We get some negatives but mostly positives. It is sunny and even too warm when the sun is facing us. We close tonight eight of us. The traffic still quite heavy by 7 pm.

Wednesday, October 6th. Day 15.
Peter and Chuck from Fredericton pray with us for several hrs. Several new faces today. People are finding the courage to venture out and pray in public. A display of their convictions regarding the reality of the slaughter of the innocent. Eleven of us at closing time, certainly sending a strong message about the importance of this vigil.

Thursday. October 7th. Day16.
Have no fear. Thaddee, Glenda and Regina from Fredericton are here. A light morning rain pushed by a vigorous wind, is knocking our chairs over. Mid day a car pulls over to tell us how upset he is that we are doing this!

Friday. Oct 8th. Day 17.
Very very windy all day ,therefore fighting to keep our signs and items in place.

A steady continuation of prayerful folks come and go. At one point, a lady pulls her car in driveway by us and is very disturbed by our presence and not open to any other point of view. We pray for her.

Saturday October 9th. Day18.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TMGiHiIS_tI/AAAAAAAAA3o/WBkqA7J1ETw/s200/40+Days+2010-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5530880067692068562" /> Very nippy morning but Denis and Tony and Sister brave the elements for a couple of hrs. The Saturday traffic is diminished from the weekday. But nevertheless the hospital staff and visitors alone are reason enough for our presence on Sunday, reminding everyone of the taking of innocent lives that goes on in this very building in front of us - the hospital.

Monday. October 11th. Day 20.
This is a busy enough day traffic wise considering that it is Thanksgiving. Many come and go and rosaries are recited in chorus and individually. Quite a cold windy day till evening. Everyone feels that cold wind ,but just the same the praying seems more intense. A young lady walks confidently by, behind us and mutters, loud enough to be heard "I'm for abortion" We pray for her.

<img style="margin:0 5px 5px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TMGiymqnwRI/AAAAAAAAA3w/lb0VgVkBZ84/s200/40+Days+2010-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5530880807644152082" /> <img style="margin:0 0 5px 5px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TMGiDZ6mw8I/AAAAAAAAA3Y/D2eJij1v-KU/s200/40+Days+2010-4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5530879996767683522" />

It may seem like things are calming down, but they aren't. The guys who made it their business to boo us come by every day (we can even recognize their cars now). The protesters that tried to counter our vigil in early October, took a long break, but came back in large number yesterday. (10-12 plus those that were driving around honking to their comrades on the sidewalk. With many vigil keepers choosing to stay past their time slot and many others coming, we succeeded in outnumbering them within an hour.) Only then did the CBC discover that there's something happening just a stones throw away from their building and only then did they send their crew to take a few pictures - mostly of the protesters.

40 Days for Life - A Few Pictures

<img style="display:block; - Day 8.

Thus says the lord who made you, who formed you in the womb...

(Isaiah 44:3)
The morning starts off damp and cool but quickly warms up, accompanied by strong gusts of wind. Peter, Susan and Chuck from Fredericton join us at prayer site. Rosaries in private and in unisson are recited through the day as well as quiet reading and a little chatter on and off. With the continuous traffic sound, one has to really work hard at concentrating on prayer.

A car pulls up slowly by our site and a lady says in french "why don't you let people live in peace?" We say a special prayer just for her. Another lady driving by quickly on the other side of the street calls out "why don't you mind your own business?" So consciences are being stirred, but maybe a lot of hurt also. Many many things to pray for.

Friday, October 1st - Day 10.
Feast of St. Theresa of the little flower

The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

(Psalm 5:6)
A gentleman from the Fisheries building just by our prayer site is busy already at 8am scrubbing some graffitti off their sign; probably aimed at us. Army, Estelle and Glenda arrive from Fredericton to reinforce our prayer army, in the rain and all. The traffic on the wet pavement makes for extra noise and therefore harder to concentrate on prayer.

By 5pm a young lady in a yellow raincape and carrying a huge handmade white cardboard sign appears on the opposite sidewalk. It reads "my mind my body my choice" in large red lettering. Twelve of us in togethrness pray for her. She stays for the remaining two hrs. By herself. The rain stops in the last hour and We go home dry. God is good and he looks after his own.
"My mind, my body" - what about the baby's body? Babies want to live; they don't "choose" abortion.
Saturday, October 2nd - Day 11.

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh!

(Philippians 3:2)
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima and of the Guardian Angels. How appropriate as we pray for all the little victims of abortion.

By noon rain has stoppedand a cool wind follows, but it doesn't discourage the faithful. Then 7 young ladies arrive to take their post opposite us with their "pro choice" signs. Nancy, Diane, Brenda, Mario, Cathy, Tony, Norma, Cecil and myself are praying in unisson for enlightment and understanding is dis for they know not what they do. Margot and Karl and grandaughter visit and pray with us for a short time.

3:30pm and the sun peeks out for two minutes - "a kiss from god" says Cathy. A couple of beleivers, Bernie and Don arrive from St. John to spend 2 hrs. Praying. A woman coming by on her bike makes a point of stopping and questions what we really are doing. And then says that she is 5 months pregnant and is keeping her baby. In her next sentence she tells us of her friend who had an abortion at this hospital last year and remained quite "traumatized" but is pregnant again and will be keeping this baby. We talk with her of the help that is available to help her girlfriend heal from the trauma of the abortion.

Sunday, October 3rd - Day 12.

Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

(Proverbs 31:8-9)
A sunny but very windy cool day. Rev. Buckingham stops by to give us his blessing. University girls come by wanting to take pictures for one of their projects. Prayer warriors come and go in good numbers all day.

4:30pm. Someone looks up directly above us and mixed in with blue skies and clouds is this lone piece of rainbow which many of us see. It is gone after 5 minutes - and we wonder about the significance?

R. Leblanc comes by to pray and later produces a stump of wood {which he has had for 10 years} an amazing sight, where the chainsaw made the cut, a very visible form of the fetus in utero is outlined. Jeannette shares with me that, when at home, she's sort of lonely and anxious to return to the 40day prayer site. So as you see god is working on us as well during this precious time praying for the unborn and all involved.

Monday, October 4th - Day 13.

Parents shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their parents.

(Deuteronomy 24:16)
The day starts off sunny, windy and a bit cool. Prayer warriors show up in numbers. The fisheries building behind us does their lawn for the second time in 12 days, so we move all our possesions back and forth, and impossible to pray for a short time. A lady walks by three of us praying approx. 11 am and makes sure we hear her saying "you guys are bullies". We pray for her. At noon time, a staff person from the hospital speaks to Mae "what have you against the French? Why not demonstrate in front of the English hospital? They do more abortions than us." Pierre walks by again and chats - still trying to figure us out and wants to talk politics.

By 4:30 pm, as we are reciting the rosary, a young lady running in spandex outfit, stops and in a high pitch perfect French tells us we have no buisiness being here like this and "excuse me but you are all old and it's us women who have the babies". When someone tries to say something to her.she promptly continues her run.

5:30 pm and cold wind is in our back. While we are praying a rosary together, a grey van slows down near us, opens his window, extends his right hand's "negative third finger" and makes sure that we all see him. We pray for him also surprisingly we do get a lot of prayers said through all these interuptions. We are eight and closing time sending our prayers heavenward.
(Sent by Rosalie)

On Sunday, October 3rd we also had the life chain. But the 40 Days for Life vigil continued uninterrupted.

40 Day Notes - Part 2: You Are Worth More Than Many Sparrows

Greenpeace is there to defend baby sparrows - we're here to defend baby humans. Here are few more 40 Day vigil notes from Rosalie:
Sunday, September 26th - Day 5

Even the very hairs of your head are numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

(Matt: 10 30-31)
Doris has her prayer warriors at their post; even the little puppy {she is babysitting for the weekend} a bit of wind but the sunshine is very welcome. Praying is continuous, but distractions galore as the football game taking place at the new university stadium creates much car and pedestrian traffic. A gentleman drives his big motorbike very close by to say "I want to commend you people for what you are doing". The respect felt from most walkers in front and behind us -- came via their silence as they passed and then resumed chatter at a distance. One energetic young man skipped sideways close in front of 8 of us praying as he called out "choice choice choice".

6pm and Shane and Rebecca and their 2 girls, on their return trip to Fredericton from Halifax, join us for an hour of prayer. During that time, a bit of commotion when a young fellow comes behind us quite angry and loud. "You people and your signs made me miss my bus." He figured the bus driver mistook him for one of us and therefore did not stop. When he was offered a ride home by Shane he walked away still angry. That was the last bus of the day and so, a good 45 minute walk. Another one on foot; starts talking behind us and when we turn says "you must have conviction" and then he blesses himself and keeps walking.

Monday, September 27th - Day 6

Communion with Christ gives us our strength, our joy, and our love

(Mother Theresa)
4 Degrees this morning in Moncton and we find 7 souls, warmly dressed and reverently praying at 7am. Mid-morning Melissa, pushing a rather large baby carriage says "I can leave these 2 with you for the day, if you want" - the most beautiful 8 month old girls, and the mother shares how they are a joy to care for.

By noon we are praying under a warm sun and even though our chart has no names for a few hours, lo and behold angels appear from nowhere just when we need them it seems. A car drives by slowly. You never know what to expect but just then the window comes down and the driver says "god bless you for what you are doing". Do hope these folks will also be praying for an end to the holocaust.

We are really appreciating and making use of the pro-life rosary intentions that Suzanne put together so beautifully for us.
We'll never know if there has been an appointment cancelled, if any of the Moncton babies has been been saved from abortion. The 40 Days for Life vigil too went uninterrupted, with 7 people praying at the George Dumont Hospital during the Life Chain hours.

This time we also had a few protesters; a group of some 5 or 6 pro-aborts (apparently the same folks that countered the 40 Days on Saturday,) stood at the entrance to the Champlain Mall parking lot. Ironically, I found it quite encouraging to see them there, because with all the honks and thumbs up that we were getting, it almost felt like we were preaching to the choir.

But, of course, it wasn't the case; even those who agree with us, often don't know the whole truth. Some of those to stopped to talk to us at the 40 Days or at the Life Chain were surprised to find out that there's no legal restriction on abortions in Canada; somehow there's a common belief that abortions are only allowed until 13-17 weeks.

Some didn't even know that the George Dumnot Hospital (a Catholic hospital, by the way,) performs abortions; that it's been responsible for at least 1 in 4 slaughtered New Brunswick babies for over 4 years now. So we're getting the message out, whether the pro-aborts like it or not.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TKn0MKEOpdI/AAAAAAAAA2I/xfdSD7IpXHc/s400/IMGS0476.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524214907644323282" />

40 Day Notes: The Privilege Of Working In Lord's Vineyard

Since our vigil is at the general hospital, we can't say if there were any babies saved; we walk by faith, not by site. And strong faith too, brings results.

Here are a few notes from the 40 Days for Life vigil:
Day 3. Friday, September 24th.

Sr Cecile and Denis Laplante faithfully at the prayer site by 7am. It was raining lightly, but steadily this morning. It's a little more challenging, as the paperwork has to be protected and the noise factor with the traffic on wet pavement demands more concentration.

By 10am we have seven prayer warriors, all under umbrellas. A lady going for the bus, Charlene, comes over to us and shares her experience of 25yrs ago: choosing to give birth to a healthy boy and have him adopted. A beautiful story.

At 11am, 3 people from Fredericton join the ranks: Thaddee, Estelle and Regina. Wonderful reinforcement. This day was a good test for our endurance as the rain persisted till 7pm. Prayer spots were filled nonetheless and rosaries and quiet prayerss went heavenwards, for many causes but always keeping the baby in the womb at the top of the list.

A few people come over to offer coffee. It's a sacrifice to have to decline and think fasting. Thank you Lord for the privilege of working in your vineyard.

Day 4. Saturday, September 25th.

Day starts with steady medium rainfall. We are still damp from yesterday. But the time slots fill and prayers are continuous, no one complains. Sr Marguerite and the Dionne's take their daily post valiantly.

By 10 am, sky clears up and street dries up a bit, but it's for the rest of the day. God is good. Many thumbs up and nods; mostly positive reaction. A few passers-by stop to discuss "What about rape"? Many taking a real good look and walking away pensive. May they be inspired to turn their hearts toward life giving, instead of taking life.
(Sent by Rosalie)

Way to go Moncton. Vigil keepers in many other cities have to endure harassment and intimidation from the pro-abortion activists of all stripes (from the facility owners to extreme leftists and anarchists). Even in Halifax, (just 300km away, but that's an NDP heartland of Atlantic Canada,) there was a couple of incidents when the police had to be called. Here, the response is much better and even those opposed to fetal rights are far more civilized.

And here are a few pictures from the first day of the 40 Days for Life vigil in Moncton.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TKT1F7Ei6ZI/AAAAAAAAA1w/CJu0cFWiTlw/s400/DSCF2201.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522808525167978898" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TKT1X4svZYI/AAAAAAAAA14/EQl3bcEVTfs/s200/DSCF2200.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522808833768908162" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/TKT1djU4W9I/AAAAAAAAA2A/uPdKujjvBMw/s200/DSCF2202.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522808931110902738" />

40 Days for Life - Day 1

Yes, we got the 40 Days going and, what's most important, we got it going well. Overall, more than 30 people participated in the first day of our 40 Days for Life vigil. Those who had a hard time registering, simply showed up. We had more volunteers committing to certain hours every week and some even went as far as committing daily, for the rest of the 40 days. So hopefully, we can expect people to show up not just on the first day, but for the remaining 39 days as well.

As for the reaction of those who passed and drove by - it was mostly favorable. We got a lot more honks than gestures and angry remarks.

Finally - check out this article by Michael Coren. Yes, it's bad enough that the hospital where we pray performs some 240 abortions on demand a year, there are those who want the same treatment to be extended to the old, disabled and weak. Let's remember that as we pray for life. And please - spare an hour or two to come to our vigil and pray - that not only the George Dumont hospital, but also every other hospital across Canada once again starts honoring the right to life - from conception to natural death.

Launching 40 Days For Life In Moncton

Yes, it's happening! Because of
Christ we pray, Amen.

40 Days For Life Is Coming To Moncton

Moncton Right To Life is working hard to make it happen this fall. New Brunswick Right to Life has already promised help, but most of the effort will have to come from the devoted volunteers here in Moncton. Published in the "Forum" section of the Times and Transcript newspaper on Monday, June 7, 2010.
Letter had much irony

To The Editor:

I am writing in response to Annie Crawford-LeBlanc s letter on Friday.

I find her letter interesting, if not a bit ironic.

She starts out stating that she is "neither advocating nor discriminating against abortion," and then goes on, with an undertone of polite anger, to talk about how people have no place "dictating" a person's choice regarding abortion.

With this letter full of political "correctness," she equates the killing of an unborn child, to walking into a foreign country and dictating how that country should be run.

I see no comparison here.

I have been involved in the pro-life movement for years. While the media likes to paint a disturbing picture of the typical pro-lifer, "dictating" our views down the throats of many; we are, in actuality, quite a different ilk.

My pro-life engagements have involved peaceful prayer and witness, along with hundreds, at times thousands, of other supporters.

In exchange, I have been spat on, harassed, had coat hangers thrown at me, air horns blown in my face, coffee thrown at me, hand gestures, and been pushed — the list goes on.

Why do some people with a pro-choice view have such anger?

Contrary to what Ms. Crawford-LeBlanc states regarding science (she says it can support either side) I have yet to read any scientific document proving that there is no life within a child en utero! Please enlighten me!

I urge Ms. Crawford-LeBlanc, and any others, to go on You Tube and search for the documentary, "Silent Scream."

This is an actual ultrasound of an abortion being performed.

If you can watch this and not feel anything for the little, precious life, with an open-mouthed scream, begging for someone to protect them from their imminent death, then I really have no words.

I can only pray.

I pray for these babies, and for their moms, who make these difficult decisions and end up suffering the effects of abortion.

Cathy Jensen,

Riverview

Simply The Best — 2010 Fundraising Event

Moncton Right to Life invites you to their 2010 fundraiser
Simply The Best

Come join us for a fun-filled evening...

When: Monday, June 7th at 6:30 PM
Where: Dan Bohan Centre,

5 Fatima Dr. Riverview, NB

Ladies... This year the theme is Abortion: Crime Against Humanity.

The killing of an innocent child is a crime against both God and humanity. Are not the people of God called to defend the innocent? That is what we do at our March. Over 1,000 innocent children are put to death in our own province each year, a large and apparently growing number with our own tax dollars, in our public hospitals. Is that not reason enough for us to clear our schedules and set aside this one day for life? If you have children, or grandchildren, why not give them a day off from school and bring them: their witness is invaluable!

In Fredericton last year over 400 were present, and 18 Members of the Legislature. The politicians look to the people for guidance. But they also count heads. Let’s give them lots of both! Please think of our event as a witness rather than a protest. We are witnessing to God’s undying love for every child and mother.

Alex Schadenberg Speaking In Halifax Nov.27 & 28.

Come And Learn about the Dangers of Euthanasia being proposed in our country!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 199px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/SumdipVKImI/AAAAAAAAAxA/z3bzMVseLfk/s200/AlexSchadenberg.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398018846915961442" /> Alex Schadenberg is the executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition - Canada, the Chair of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition - He is on the forefront of the move to prevent the legalization of euthanasia in our country.

Alex will be speaking in Halifax on Nov 27 to the doctors and medical professionals on the topic of caring versus killing and on Nov 28 to the general public on the topics of euthanasia, assisted suicide and the new eugenics.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 147px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/Sumdo53kYTI/AAAAAAAAAxI/GcNLFJvHvts/s200/Bill-C-384.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398018954434470194" /> Because of Bill – C384 is currently before the Canadian Parliament these are extremely timely talks that everyone should hear.

It is particularly important that Alex will be speaking with just the health care professionals in one session.

We should ALL be informed on this topic and Alex's visit with us will give us an opportunity to do that.

The Friday evening talk on Nov 27 is at 7 pm, this is for medical personnel only.

The Sat talk is Nov 28 at 2 pm. Possibly - two more women have reconsidered:
Day 28: God moves!

Tuesday, October 20. Tuesday is abortion day at the “clinic.” Last night, as I prayed, I found myself wondering if the Lord might move today upon this temple of death (see our report for Day 27). Today, He did! We were able to witness some of the fruits of our spiritual campaign, thanks be to Him.

There was a good turnout for our vigil today, as many as 13 of us in the morning. Among them a contingent of 6 from Moncton including two women I highly esteem as veteran “prayer warriors,” Sr. Cécile and Diane.

A woman approached along the street this morning, getting ready to go in for her scheduled abortion. She later told us that, seeing our signs, she just could not go through with it. She came in our pro-life house and asked to speak to someone. She had a long session with Martha. She has decided to have the baby and is exploring adoption! She cancelled her abortion appointment. Thanks be to the God of life! Please do support her in prayer, if you would. It’s a very difficult situation including medical issues for the mother.

She wasn’t the only one who changed her mind! Two other women entered the “clinic”, apparently for abortions. But they left without having them!

I watched as two young women entered around 7:30 a.m. The abortionist arrived shortly after 8 a.m. Soon after that the two young women emerged and left! They would not have had time for an abortion. The procedure takes 15 minutes or so, and then the woman spends time in the recovery area. So it usually takes about an hour and a half for the whole process. They just weren’t there anywhere near that long. Moreover, a woman who’s had an abortion usually moves slowly as she walks. These two were walking at normal speed, another sign no procedure had taken place. It appears to me a mind was changed and a baby’s life spared!

I saw this young couple enter the “clinic” a little while after the above pair. They were in there a good while, as if for an abortion, but they too came out earlier than expected and moved along at a good pace walking back up the street. I am quite certain they did not have an abortion! Colleen - another prayer warrior - was beside me, the two of us rejoiced.

It appears as though the lives of three children were spared! We have never seen anything like this before, in all our years of observing days of death. Amazing! Our God is an awesome God.

There were yet other signs that something spiritually was getting through the normal shield of death that envelops pregnant mothers. Leo noticed a young woman waiting a long time in a car before finally approaching the abortuary. Her face showed real emotion and reluctance, something you don’t usually see with abortion-bound women. Unfortunately, she did enter and apparently underwent the procedure. Pray for her, and the 8 others we noticed going in for abortions (besides the two mentioned above).

As I was fixing something by the House, I noticed one woman going up the street, another woman putting her arm around her shoulder. Thaddée said this woman was in fact crying as she left the abortuary. You don’t always see this, it was evident to me that on this special day something out of the ordinary- grace! - was bringing the tragic reality of abortion to light to a number of the mothers.

These events should encourage us. Our prayers are being answered. Through signs God is revealing that the spiritual battle is indeed real, He is truly at work in our midst, and He very much wants us to persevere in this kind of campaign.

In His love and truth,
Peter Ryan
(New Brunswick Right To Life e-mail communique: Day 28)

40 Days For Life — Real Love Does Not Take A Child’s Life

E-mail communique from the New Brunswick Right to Life:
Day 17: Real Love Does Not Take a Child’s Life

Friday, October 9. Encouraging to see people once again coming from afar. Lorraine and six other members of a Saint John prayer group took two shifts of several hours each. Jackie, head of the provincial CWL, and her husband from Perth-Andover. Walter and Jeanine from Quispamsis. Gordie and Daniel from Saint John. Three young people from Saint John; especially encouraging for us seeing the young people.

One of the women spoke about how several of her friends use to have the abortionist at Morgentaler’s as a family doctor when she practised in Saint John. They remarked how “caring” she was. I’ve heard the same of two other former abortionists who were ob-gyns: people said they were “caring.” It’s amazing how otherwise caring people can have such huge blind spots. Abortionists think they’re doing the pregnant women a service. They just don’t seem to really see the innocent child whose life they take, nor the lifelong suffering they leave mothers with.

Real love does not take a child’s life. Sooner or later many abortionists seem to come to realize this. Spiritual blindness can be healed. We pray this to come to pass for our “Dr. R.” Lord, have mercy on her.

Peter Ryan
And then we have those "doctors" who perform abortions at the Dumont hospital in Moncton and at the Chaleur hospital in Bathurst. They too are likely to be someone's family doctors; and their patients too may find them nice and caring - if they were lucky to be born, of course. Those in the womb - for them it's a different story. They may end up feeling the full extent of such "care". But those babies are voiceless.

40 Days For Life — A Baby Saved! Maybe Two

E-mail communique from the New Brunswick Right to Life:
Day 7: Baby saved! Maybe two!

With all the prayer the past six days of our vigil, I was wondering if we might see some fruit of that on Day 7: abortion day at Morgentaler’s. We did!

There were about a dozen of us present as our vigil began at 7 a.m. The rain began just then and would come down steady for the rest of the morning.

There were 7 or 8 “escorts” outside the abortion site. It wasn’t long before women began arriving for abortions. Over the next three hours we noticed at least 12 going in (they normally stop going in about 10 a.m.)

But two of the 12 soon came back out! In at least one case a change of heart was apparent. This one couple walked down the street and went in the front door between 8 and 9. I took note of them because he was a large young man. Of course we were praying hard for each and every one we saw going in.

They couldn’t have been in there more than 20-25 minutes. To my pleasant surprise out they come the front door and walk away up the street! They weren’t in there long enough for an abortion, for sure. It’s unusual to see someone come out again so soon and leave. Usually that would signify a changed mind. Did this one? Maybe! They didn’t look our way or speak to anyone so it wasn’t clear. God alone knows, we entrust them to Him.

The other one was more clear. Between 9 and 10, as most of us stood in the rain across the street from abortion site, Marti, who has much experience counseling pregnant mothers at the Women’s Center next door, stood a short distance from the “clinic.” I prayed that she would somehow get a chance to speak to a woman going for an abortion. I left the prayer site about 9:45 and went in our pro-life centre.

Not long after 10 I met a beaming Marti in the kitchen. “A baby was saved!” she said. She recounted how this mother and daughter (the baby’s grandmother and mother) passed by her going toward the abortion site. Marti was able to speak a few kind words about how they didn’t need to go in there, help was available next door etc. Marti said she felt an “unctioning of the Holy Spirit” as she spoke. The two women, however, continued on and entered the “clinic,” with escorts gathered around.

But 5 minutes later they re-emerged! The escorts seemed a little flustered to see them leaving. They passed by Marti’s way again. The older woman looked at Marti intently and said, “Thank you.” It was obvious something had happened! The Holy Spirit had gotten through! They proceeded into the nearby parking garage. When their car came out and passed by, the young woman looked Marti’s say and smiled. The power of prayer and love made manifest.

A child saved, maybe two! Who can even begin to measure the value of this?
Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness. And thanks to all who prayed.

It was a most blessed day at our vigil site in more ways than one. There was the group of regular Tuesday pro-lifers (3) who came up from Saint John; five from the same church who were so numerous at our Day 6 vigil; a group of 6 from the Moncton area; a group of 7 from the Rogersville area including a priest; another priest; the past head of the NB Knights of Columbus and his wife; a family of 7 and their friend; various other individuals and couples.

Then there was the man from a nearby café who brought two free carafes of coffee in the rain; the same man spoke to my wife the day before and said “I was adopted.” A “pro-choice” young woman from St. Thomas U. spoke peacefully for 45 minutes with two of our people; perhaps something good rubbed off! Several other passersby stopped to chat. One seemed to be the father of aborted babies, struggling with pain, an effort was made to minister to him; he departed in good humor.

Peter Ryan
That's excellent news. It's always great to hear about a life that has been saved and, results like that are sure motivating. Let's keep up with the good work. And let's not forget: Life Chain is this Sunday. Let's be there; let's come together in a peaceful and prayerful public witness for the unborn.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dvmrl.blogspot.com/2009/10/40-days-for-life-baby-saved-maybe-two.html' title='40 Days For Life — A Baby Saved! How to fill all those prayer shifts? Fredericton is much smaller than the other Canadian cities that are involved with 40 Days, how can we do it? It’s a secularized environment (government and university town), we don’t even get much pro-life support from the churches. So much to be done. My overwhelming feeling was: this is so much bigger than our team (too few hands, as always) can handle. My prayer: “Lord, help!”

And He has. The prayer shifts have been filling up. Churches previously lukewarm about pro-life are showing interest. A long-time divide in our pro-life movement here is being overcome, as Protestants join with Catholics. People all over the province unable to travel here for the vigil are praying and fasting at home and church. Special masses for life (rare in these parts) are being offered.

So with His grace yesterday we began, Day 1. I was impressed to see how many vigilers brought friends along with them. Quite a number of people who had planned to take part couldn’t or didn’t; but somehow others took their place, we always had at least two present, most times more. Lots of folks taking part who’ve never done anything like this before. Participants saying how they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. More positive than negative reaction from passersby. A very good day. Thanks be to God!

A blessing rather than a curse

There were a couple surprises. One lady drives by with a sober demeanour slows right now, rolls down her window, the vigilers say to themselves, “Oh, oh, here comes trouble.” But then the lady gives them a thumbs up!

In the evening as I was praying in the dark with an Anglican priest, I heard someone yelling. Looking around, I saw a young couple walking two dogs in our direction. My first thought was, “Oh, oh.” Then she yells again and I make out, “Are you going all night or what?” She got closer and commented, pointing to the abortuary, “You know, I lost my baby (miscarriage), just to think about what they do to babies in there ….” A driver went by and cursed at us. “Boy, is that guy ignorant,” the young woman said. She then asked, “Are you guys with that place next door?” pointing to the pro-life center where I work. “Yes,” I said. She indicated she had gone in to our center one time and received help. When I explained we were on a 40 day prayer campaign, the couple asked if they could come back sometime and join us. As they went on their way, the young woman turned and yelled out again: “God bless you!”

Pretty neat stuff!

Peter Ryan
Campaign director, Fredericton NB
Executive Director, NB Right to Life
Here in Moncton we had an hour of prayer at the George Dumont hospital. The public was friendly (I could see the drivers giving us the thumbs up, not to mention the honks) and, despite the harsh weather, we actually had a few people joining our vigil.

Let's keep up with the good work. Let's pray to end abortion - rain or shine.

Red Envelope Campaign Resumes In New Brunswick

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_anEWR_Etk0M/SpWLdgfzLmI/AAAAAAAAAvw/Wevl1x9u2Bs/s200/Red-Envelopes-small.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374355069392334434" /> The campaign is to raise awareness not just of the abortions that take place in Morgentaler's facility in Fredericton, but also - of hundreds of abortions that are performed in New Brunswick hospitals each year, because the province's definition of "medically necessary" could easily be stretched to include abortions on demand. Attached to the latest NBRL newsletter was an empty red envelope, addressed to the New Brunswick Health Minister, Mary Schryer. Each of those red envelopes symbolizes a baby who died in abortion.
As you can tell from our Newsletter, pages 1-2, what is taking place in two of our New Brunswick hospitals is deeply disturbing. It's bad enough when Henry Morgentaler tries to force New Brunswickers to pay for dead-babies-on-demand at his private clinic (see Newsletter, p.10). Thanks goodness the government has been fighting then. But how can the same government pay for the very same thing in our hospitals! Shame on them!

I am very frustrated that up to now there has been no political leadership on this terrible problem. We have aborted 25,000 New Brunswick children since 1969 - and two-thirds were in our hospitals! Why have we collectively still not woken up& Why are we so reluctant to welcome and protect every child in our hospitals? How can we turn a blind eye to the death of hundreds of innocent children every year?

As pro-lifers we absolutely must hold our elected representatives to account. That's why we have initiated the Red Envelope Campaign.

Please use the enclosed red envelope. Send it (empty) to our new Minister of Health, Mary Schryer (who, incidentally, attended our last March for Life). Let's hope and pray it touches her heart.
New Brunswick Right to Life flyer

If you haven't received an envelope, but still wish to participate, you can easily make one yourself. Seal it (empty) and write the following text on the back:
This envelope represents one New Brunswick child who died from an abortion. It is empty because that little boy or girl was never able to offer anything to the world. DINNER TIME!!!! And we are counting on your support.

In past years we have had guests sharing different aspects of the life issues. This year we are blessed to have Alex Schadenberg accept our invitation to share with us the latest happenings on the subject of euthanasia and assisted suicide. Alex will join us on his return from the second International Symposium on Euthanasia held in Washington, DC. I am sure his presentation will not only be current but informative. Information we need to know as we continue to wage our battle against the culture of death that continues to threaten our way of life. (See poster fro more details.)

Reflection on this past year shows us once again how important our media campaign is. Our billboards, TV and radio ads have generated much publicity and have been a most important avenue for educating the public.

It's imperative that we not only "get" the message of Life into the market place but also "keep" it there. This we cannot do without your help. It is your faithful support that makes it possible for us to continue.

So please mark your calendars... Invite your family and friends to join you... Call your hosts and purchase your tickets. Crystal Palace has expanded their banqueting hall to a 400 seat capacity. Please help us fill it for an evening of fellowship and fine dining. See you there!

Yours for life,
Leo Leger.

Support Health Minister Mike Murphy

Pro-abortion activists, angry with what Mike Murphy said during the March for Life rally, are telling their supporters to phone his office and pressure him to resign. It's bilingual and in full color (note: you have to print both files to get the full text in either French or English). We got a great deal on these, so will 5,000 at the first of the week for mass distribution!

The theme (Exodus) is the same as the National March, focused on the 40th anniversary of abortion in Canada.

We are pleased this year to have not only the Knights of Columbus but also the Catholic Women's League as a co-sponsor of our event.

When the brochure is sent out, it will also contain accompanying information on the line-up of speakers.

Please use this brochure to spread the word, so this will be the biggest and best March ever! Things are shaping up, with plans for at least 4 busloads coming from out of town (Saint John, Bathurst, Moncton).

Yours for life and love,

Peter Ryan
NB Right to Life
Tel. 1-888-796-9600

Re. Brochure Distribution: We plan to mail the brochure to each chapter, each K of C council, each CWL council, and a select number of other supporters likely to respond. If your group is doing a mailing to its members and would like to include a brochure, please let us know. Or if you will be attending a social gathering (e.g. conference) where those present might be receptive, we can provide brochures for distribution.
The brochures are now available for download at our website. Those are three-fold brochures so both sides must be printed to get full text in English language (Here's mostly English part and mostly French part.)

And, by the way, if you take a closer look at the brochure, you may find the graphics that was compiled by yours truly. Even the wording remained almost the same since it had been first published in October of 2007. Well, I'm glad I could contribute something to the brochure (even if it wasn't a direct contribution). Her lungs seem to be inflamed and she has been wheezing and working hard for her breaths. We've been giving her Ventalin to open up her airways every 3 hours, Motrin every 6 hours to reduce inflammation, and we have been spending every spare moment positioning her to help her breathe better. It has been an exhausting and scary couple of days. I don't really have time to be on the computer right now, but I thought I should post a quick update to let you know how she's doing. Please update your bookmarks. In the upcoming weeks I'll keep working on the website, reorganizing the content, removing "dead" links and trying to incorporate at least the headers from our blog directly onto our website.

Yes, Moncton Right To Life now has a blog - http://dvmrl.blogspot.com. This is a great tool to get our announcements, observations, media releases and even letters to the editors published online, with a simple click of the mouse. Even as a standalone website, it's a great help in getting the word out.

So, it's all up to us now. We have a new hosting, one that doesn't try to stick its banners on our site, we have all the tools we need to get the word out, I even got a new digital camera several weeks ago, so we could get some decent pictures of our events for a change... Now, all that's left is to get things done :)
